Root Canal Treatment

Root canal treatment is a dental procedure that involves removing infected or damaged pulp from the inside of a tooth. After cleaning and shaping the root canals, the space is filled with a biocompatible material, and the tooth is typically capped with a crown. This treatment aims to save a tooth that might otherwise need extraction, addressing issues such as infection, inflammation, or severe decay within the tooth's pulp chamber.

Rotary endodontics is an advanced technique used in root canal treatment. Sonic activation in root canal treatment involves the use of ultrasonic instruments to help clean and irrigate the root canals. These instruments create ultrasonic vibrations, which help in the removal of debris, bacteria, and tissue remnants from the canal walls. "Re-RCT" stands for "Root Canal Retreatment." Re-RCT involves reopening the tooth, removing any existing filling material, cleaning the canals again, and then refilling and sealing the tooth. This process aims to address unresolved problems and save the tooth from extraction.

Surgical endodontics, also known as endodontic surgery or apical surgery, involves procedures performed on the roots of teeth when conventional root canal treatment is insufficient. Common surgical endodontic procedures include apicoectomy (removal of the tooth's apex) and retrograde filling (sealing the root tip). These surgeries aim to address persistent issues like infections, cysts, or fractures, providing an alternative to tooth extraction.
